Mariah Carey’s “Christmastime in Las Vegas” residency at Dolby Live from November through December 2025 marked a groundbreaking achievement in live sound technology, with the 11-show run featuring immersive Dolby Atmos mixing throughout. The spectacular Christmas production at Park MGM’s state-of-the-art theater showcased both Carey’s legendary vocal prowess and cutting-edge audio innovation.

The residency featured a perfect blend of holiday classics and Carey’s trademark hits, opening with Christmas favorites before shifting to material from her latest album “Here For It All,” followed by a cascade of big hits and the inevitable finale of “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The show’s Christmas content particularly lent itself to the immersive Atmos experience, creating “big, theater moments” that brought new definition and layering to the familiar songs.

Dolby Live’s unique venue, equipped with 402 L-Acoustics speakers covering 5,200 seats, provided the perfect environment for this innovative audio approach. The furthest seat sits only 145 feet from the 140-foot-wide stage, ensuring optimal acoustics throughout the theater.

Paul Falcone handled the Front of House mix in immersive Dolby Atmos, becoming the first person to drive the Dolby Live system dynamically using Pro Tools with the Dolby Atmos Music Panner. Working in close collaboration with supportive Dolby engineers, Falcone utilized a DiGiCo Quantum 5 console and developed an innovative workflow that allowed for dynamic control of the spatial audio experience throughout each performance.
